Interview with Phils Emjay

Please tell us your name and what you do? My name is Maher Joshua a.k.a Phils Emjay. I am an artiste, blogger, poet and activist. All right. But some posters identifies you solely as a singer? Not really! I hardly sing. Yea sure What's your major concern as a blogger? My major concern is how to carry every body along, being a source of help to my people and all the entertainers, and more importantly, to spread my roots deeply around the world. That's sounds  enthusiastic. Can we know the name of your blog? Of course!   NORTH EAST MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT BLOG . Since it's all about entertainment, I believe everything on there has to do with the performing arts? Surely! How do you cope with multi-tasking, like being a poet and owning a blog purely dedicated to music? Well! I write whenever I'm inspired. I don't write always, and you'd believe me when I say blogging is a daily activity. Yeah. To keep a blog going, it must be revamped daily ...

Iyanu Adebiyi ~ Up Nepa Lyrics

In Nigeria, we don't have light. Common sense is trampled upon and thrown into the bin So that  to pick it up or wash and iron it's rumpled shirt, there's no light to do the laundry Only a fire that burns to ashes. It hurts. I come from a land of the night Where vision has lost its sight No human rights or a sense of what is right No hope to rewrite our poverty streaked plight. This is where darkness reigns And tears are the rains that water our crops When pain triggers it to drop Our children carry their dreams in bowls of darkness Chanting up Nepa up nepa A prayer to the man upstairs to send us LIGHT at least for a WHILE I come from a land of many churches Where we ride on as pretended horses Lying lazily on lonely lanes and street corners  With a huge cross mounting our centres Blind folded men of God running helter skelter to raise money for generators Because there is no power to the microphones that blare the good news They do not mind ...

Interview with Darren Idongesit Aquaisua

Were you a Christian before you became an atheist?  Yes, I was born into a Christian home. All right. How and why did you leave Christianity?  Leaving Christianity was a gradual process. I had doubts, you know. I am very knowledgeable on scripture and the more you read and understand the more one realizes something is awfully wrong with the messages in there. I couldn't agree with an all loving god ordering for the killing of children and at a particularly gruesome encounter, his servant ordered for a wild beast to tear 42 children to pieces. This level of gory and absolutely senseless slaughter was hard to reconcile with the image of an all loving being. I want to pose this question to you; would you kill 42 children if you had the means to? No. I wouldn't.  So you know in a way understand this to be wrong? Yes of course, I know that already, but it's improper to mock the servant of God if only the stories were true. By the way, do you believe in neme...

Sixty (60) Top African Proverbs

Those who accomplish great things pay attention to little ones.   ~Malian  Around a flowering tree there are many insects.   ~Guinean He who learns, teaches.   ~ Ethiopian   One who loves you, warns you.   ~Baganda Leadership does not depend on age.   ~Namibian  An elephant which kills a rat is not a hero.    ~Cameroonian He is like a drum which makes a lot of noise but is hollow inside.   ~Sudanese I pointed out to you the stars and all you saw was the tip of my finger.     ~Sukuma  Confiding a secret to an unworthy person is like carrying grain in a bag with a hole.     ~Nilotic Better a curtain hanging motionless than a flag blowing in the wind.   ~Swahili One who bathes willingly with cold water doesn't feel the cold.   ~Fipa  You are beautiful, but learn to work, for you cannot eat your beaut...

Interview with Itohan Eghide

There is nothing as splendid as meeting and talking to a woman with powerful innovative ideas. Itohan is not an exemption. I did this interview with her while she was on holiday at Port Harcourt. Enjoy! 1. There are a lot of men and women I’ve seen around the world who seem to have almost given up on the opposite sex .You get these bitter jokes and angry comments. The men think the women are gold diggers and not interested in them and rude. The women think the men are all sexist and they can’t stand them . What would you say to those people that have gotten so frustrated that they ’re almost ready to give up on the opposite sex? There is a man for every woman and a woman for every man. I would advise anyone not to give up no matter the circumstance,  because love can happen spontaneously. And when true love happens, one will definitely know that "yes! This is  genuine!" 2. What do you think is the reason why most partners cheat on each other in their rel...
