KWAKU SONNY ~ Lyrical Dexterity

LYRICAL DEXTERITY 5 vr 2-18

2 You gave us bread, and you gave us cheese
You gave us the moon, the stars, and the seas
3 Five senses, we hear, taste, view, and sneeze
You gave us fine air and added breeze
4 you paid our fees
So we could earn degrees
5 you gave us ice, made us wise so we don't
freeze
6 You gave us salvation for free not for lease
You showed us the door and gave us the keys
7 According to your riches and glory, you
supplied us our needs
By your stripes, we are healed from every
disease
8 You gave us peace
Yet we were not pleased
9 The bible says that the wages of sin is death,
We lie, fornicate, steal, and engaged ourselves in
a lot more of these
And I wonder why our lives have not yet been
ceased
10 Though the sweetest God, I can boldly say
that you are displeased by our actions, that is
why we have gone on our knees to pray saying
“Lord please”
Forgive us our sins
Especially those who have slept with their
cousins
11 No losses, no draws, give us our daily wins
Bless our mothers with twins
And our babies with natural vitamins
12 Bless my generation with a lot of virgins
May we never have anything to do with coffins?
13 From today we declare our lives unto you,
help us to stay loyal
Reinstate us as the priests and priestesses in
your kingdom, royal
14 Anoint our heads with oil
Fertilize our soil
Grant us profits from our toil
15 May your fire cause the blood of our enemies
to boil
May you cause their camp to experience a great
turmoil
16 We have developed rabbit ears that is parallel
to advice
Cut these ears into pieces, (slice)
May your servants find favor in your eyes
16 And may our leaders learn to be true and stop
telling us lies
They think they are wise by the standards of
their ages, make them "fools" so that they may
become wise
17 May their nonsense talk in our eyes be sound
May One Ghana cedi be equivalent to One British
pound
18 May their thoughts and speeches be profound
May the betterment of this country be our
common ground
May those who are lost be found
This is what I ask in Jesus name...amen.

Seen Only When Needed

You asked. I gave what I could. Not everything. Just enough. After that, my messages felt quiet. Not because I stopped, but because you stopped seeing. The space between us grew. No fight. No goodbye. Just distance. I stayed available. You stayed away. I understood without words: people remember you when they need you, then forget when the need is gone. I didn’t hate you. I only learned that timing rules hearts, and silence teaches more than promises. Life moves like this: giving, taking, leaving questions. I stand with mine. If only time could listen. Interview With Youth Advocate, Comrade Kufre Matthew

Comrade Kufre, thank you for joining us today! As the Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Alternative Council (NYAC), Akwa Ibom chapter, what inspired you to take on this role and dedicate yourself to youth empowerment? Thank you very much. My inspiration comes from my deep concern about the untapped potential of young people in our society. I have seen many youths with ideas, energy, and passion but without proper guidance or platforms to express themselves. Accepting the role of Chairman of NYAC, Akwa Ibom State chapter, was a call to service—to create opportunities, amplify youth voices, and ensure young people are part of decision-making processes that shape their future. You've led initiatives like PVC awareness and voter registration drives. What strategies have you used to encourage young people to participate in democratic processes, and what impact have you seen? We focus on grassroots engagement—meeting young people where they are, both physically and digitally. Through PVC awa...

The Reawakening by Bennie S. Alan

I hope this poem will serve as stairs to the sky. I hope these rhymes will catch your eyes, I hope my hypnotic words will wing you to fly. Fearlessly glitter in the dark and rise! Yesterday, you slayed Like the Cyclops of the Odyssey. The moon is in your eyes, The land of your lineament is rainy, The dark wind has dusted for you, A castle of bewilderment. Dimmed gold of a dog's life, roomed your fate. Stretched to your hand is a tightrope, Of a rebirth of the mighty Phoenix. Dance to the rhythm of new hope. Gloomy days and tears are bounded. Here is the key to the new beginning gate. A painting of a new smile On your fair face. I hope this poem is a kiss of life. I hope this poem brings a new lease on life. Try this time, remembering these words. Try this time, remembering, This is your time and moment. Try this time, remembering, There is a God. Bennie S.
